EXPERIMENTAL Experimental music
refers to a large genre of music that, while thriving long before Rock
and Roll even existed, still encompasses artists who dont easily
fit into current popular genres. Experimental music has its roots in early
John Cage conceptual pieces, 1920s theremin music, Edgar Varese experiments,
and Robert Moogs 1950s Moog-based ambient music, to name a few.
Artists as well known as Bjork, Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Stereolab and DJ Spooky were
until recently considered Experimental artists. Todays Experimental
music generally refers to more conceptual, less dance-oriented electronic
music and encompasses a wide variety of styles and original sounds. Examples
of current Experimental artists are The
Planetary Commission, Kristina Supergenius, Untitled
Sound and Refried Brains. |

New Beats For Your Feets |
This latest release from Kristina Supergenius is a slight departure from the previous downtempo albums. While maintaining the signature post-industrial and spacey effects over ethnographic sound sources, this album kicks the beats into high gear with a few funky crossover 2-step drum n bass songs. | The Electronic Chemicals vs. Untitled Sound |
Chemical Goop & Mathematic Sparks |
At the forefront of the Slambient movement, The Electronic Chemicals strive toward a vision of balanced chaos and harmonious dissonance. Like an explosive chemical mixture, Apple-O runs guitar loops and feedback over Swar's equally effects-heavy guitar chord progressions and hypnotic basslines. Non adds occasional live bass for added dissonance. This toxic mixture alternately proves to be trance- or riot- inducing.
This 2 CD set of live electronics and effects-heavy guitars marks the combined musical collaboration of The Electronic Chemicals and Untitled Sound and is available exclusively through SuperGenius Records. (more music)
