ELECTRONIC/TECHNO/ELECTRO/HOUSE Electronic, Dance, House, Techno, Electro... It all has it's roots in
early electronic instruments and samplers.
"Techno
had its roots in the electronic house music made in Detroit in the mid-'80s.
Where house still had explicit connection to disco even when it was entirely
mechanical, techno was strictly electronic music, designed for a small,
specific audience. The first techno producers and DJs — Kevin Saunderson,
Juan Atkins, and Derrick May, among others — emphasized the electronic,
synthesized beats of electro-funk artists like Afrika Bambaataa and synth-rock
units like Kraftwerk... All
subgenres of techno were initially designed to be played in clubs, where
they would be mixed by DJs. Consequently, most of the music was available
on 12-inch singles or various-artists compilations, where the songs could
run for a long time, providing the DJ with a lot of material to mix into
his set. "

New Beats For Your Feets |
This latest release from Kristina Supergenius is a slight departure from the previous downtempo albums. While maintaining the signature post-industrial and spacey effects over ethnographic sound sources, this album kicks the beats into high gear with a few funky crossover 2-step drum n bass songs. | Untitled Sound vs. The Electronic Chemicals |
SoundScapExperiments |
Untitled Sound is a collective of samplists and Electronic Ambient tone-shapers. Chad Wetherbee and Jim McGinnis weave electronic sounds and samples over a complex atmosphere of spacey textures and echoed beats. Jennifer Ermler floats processed wind instruments over the mix for a spacey, downbeat, as yet Untitled Sound.
This 2 CD set of live electronics and effects-heavy guitars marks the combined musical collaboration of The Electronic Chemicals and Untitled Sound and is available exclusively through SuperGenius Records. (more music)
